Force the UK to commit copyright infringement

You know what would be awesome - forcing the UK to commit copyright infringement by simply watching a copyrighted movie in public in London. You’d have to watch out for some things, but if you did it you could legally request a copy of the footage under the Data Protection Act, putting them in a tricky position with the MPAA. As they recorded it in the first place, they are already in violation of copyright law. It would rock. Someone needs to do it.

The UK has more crime than us

I find these figures interesting. It seems that many of the happiest countries in the first world are near the top (US, UK, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Netherlands, New Zealand, Germany), which means they have more crime than many more disadvantaged countries. It also seems that many of the countries with the least crime have very strong religious influences in their government, while the top is mostly “free and prosperous”. But what is extremely interesting is how I’ve been hearing that England has less crime than we do. It plainly doesn’t when taken per capita. They have about 6% more crime currently. It’s amazing to me since they have all these measures to curb it such as spy cameras on every corner of London.

Hopefully, no politicians will elect to start this invasive Orwellian crap here. It obviously doesn’t work.

Englandgaged

Posted by hank, Wed Mar 12 08:44:00 UTC 2008

So, I proposed to my long-time girlfriend Kelsey in England a couple weeks ago. I managed to get it on video:

This takes place in Farleigh-Hungerford Castle, which has this charming history:

The colourful Hungerford family included two members executed during the Wars of the Roses and another – who imprisoned his wife here for four years – beheaded for alleged treason and witchcraft by Henry VIII. One Lady Hungerford was hanged for murdering her first husband and burning his body in the castle’s kitchen oven, another was charged with adultery and attempted poisoning.
